WHY TRAVEL?

It all started with a wild thought. A question. What if we could leave the daily grind behind, chase what made us truly happy and go on a global adventure with our kids? Could we dare to defy the norm, throw the rule book out the window, deeply connect with our children and truly live life to the hilt? When the idea sparked, there was an instant fire in my belly. The desire to go globetrotting with the tribe hit hard. Though I hadn't the faintest clue about turning it into reality, just imagining chasing adventure, experiencing more time together and embracing the freedom of nomadic living was too good to resist.

Growing up as a pilot's kid, globetrotting was just another part of my formative years. I formed bonds across the planet and kept up the wanderlust with my partner in crime, Troy, pre-kids. But when our little girls arrived, our travel pace slowed to a crawl. I was determined to change that. I wanted our little ones to experience the boundless learning and thrill that comes with travel. I was intensely aware of how fast these precious childhood years whizz by and was determined not to have any regrets later. Travel seemed to be the perfect solution. I just needed to convince hubby.

Admittedly, this wasn't exactly a cakewalk initially. He thought the whole idea was a touch bonkers - trading our home, vehicles, and majority of our possessions for a handful of backpacks and a vague plan of touring overseas. And who could blame him? With two loud, strong-willed kiddos, I got it. The notion was, indeed, very daunting.

However, it wasn't long before Troy began to warm up to the idea. His work wasn't exactly filling his heart with joy, and he felt like he was missing out on irreplaceable moments with our young girls, then only 3 and 4. On my end, I was incredibly thankful for the precious time I could spend at home with my daughters, but my heart truly sang on the weekends when we could all be together as a family.

Sure, we could have funnelled our savings into building our dream home (a choice that's certainly not without its merits), but we felt this was our golden opportunity to prioritise our children while they were still small. We decided to step up to the plate, be bold, take a leap of faith and pursue a lifestyle that we were passionate about - a lifestyle brimming with awe, novelty, exploration and most importanly, memories. Because, let's face it, life's too brief and the dream house can wait.

Fast forward three years and we're still on the road full-time, fueled by the happiness this lifestyle brings us all. It's not been smooth sailing all the way - an unprecedented global health crisis almost sank our adventure barely three weeks in - but the invaluable memories we've made together and the astounding opportunities we've encountered make every challenge worthwhile.

Documenting and sharing our travels on social media has thrown open doors we didn't even know existed, allowing us to collaborate with brands we genuinely admire. It's an affirming testament to the power of following your passions and trusting in the Universe to respond.

We're excited to keep sharing our adventures, handy tips and the hard-won lessons we've learned. Our hope is to light a spark in other families, encouraging them to spend more quality time together, to embark on thrilling adventures, to heed the call of their hearts and create a wealth of memories along the journey!

Love, Merrin x
